Welcome to Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church!  We hope this page will answer the questions you may have about visiting our church.Johnson Memorial building

Where is the church located?  Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church is a brown stone building on the corner of 5th Avenue and 10th Street in downtown Huntington, West Virginia.

Will I be welcome?  Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church strives to practice radical hospitality.  Everyone is welcome.   In an effort to demonstrate our belief that everyone is a sacred and beloved child of God, the Church has joined the Reconciling Ministries Network.  Not only are you welcome, but we hope you will share in our journey to become more Christ-like – share your thoughts, your spiritual gifts, and your faith with us.

What time is Sunday worship?  Our Sunday morning worship service begins at 10:30 a.m. Worship includes liturgy, prayer, a special music offering, hymns and the proclamation of the Word.  Music is accompanied by organ and piano.  The worship service is held in the Sanctuary. Child care is available.  We also invite you to Sunday School.

Is there parking nearby?  Absolutely.  You will find the Church’s large parking lot behind the building on 10th Street; enter from 6th Avenue.  Street parking is also available.  Both the parking lot and the street offer reserved accessible parking for persons with mobility issues.

Where are the entrances to the Church building?  There are two main entrances: large doors on the 5th Avenue side of the church that access the Sanctuary, and doors on 10th Street – this entrance is closest to the parking lot. If you want to go to Sunday school, the 10th Street entrance is the easiest to navigate.

Is the building accessible?  Our church building was constructed over 80 years ago, but we have worked to make it as accessible as possible.  A ramp and a lift are located at the 10th Street door, and from this entrance, an elevator offers access to all floors (including the Sanctuary).  For entrance from 5th avenue, enter the garden for ramped access to the Sanctuary. While the Sanctuary has offered accessibility for many years, recent renovations have made the altar area and choir loft accessible as well.
